I have offically GRADUATED!!

Now I have moved down to Ft. Lauderdale and may move further down to Miami within the next couple months so I can be chillin where its warm in the land of horrible drivers. Anyway, I'm on the job hunt right now which is fun and frustrating a the same time. Employers need to at least say, "hey mother fucker, fuck you and the horse you rode in on" so you know where you stand from jump. Have an interview or two scheduled in the comming weeks so wish me luck because I need to make MUNAAYYYY!!

So other than the move and the job hunting we have the music.
A member of my team and good friend Carl G got a gig at KDS studio's in Orlando and he's been working to get us on ever since. Gotta give the guy his credit, he knows how to make himself useful.
So far we have done a remix for one of KDS Music Group artists Bedo. Which can be heard here, mixed by me of course . . .

Then I have been contracted to work for the Future Of America.

As you can obviously see I have been too busy with school to be able to write anything blog worthy. Ok thats a lie, I just haven't had anything blog worthy to write about. Woe is me. I need a life or a live-in girlfriend. Preference will be shown to the latter (you know who you are!!).

Nothing is happening with me musically. If anything this has been the DRIEST dry spell I have ever had. Its been months and nothing. Not a damn thing. At one point I even gave up trying. Its sad.

What up people. Sorry that I haven't updated this in a bit. Been busy been busy, and I can prove it too. Sadly enough I have decided to not do anymore free work for some rappers that used to come through to my spot. I need to get my hustle on and try to work for some real cash and credit. If I never see said rappers again after all that free work then I'll admit that I may be a bit salty but oh well. I guess they would just fall into the stereotype of rappers that will praise your skill but don't want to pay for anything if it costs over $0.00

Funny thing though, and this rant is completely from observation. Some rappers would faster buy alcohol and weed and make substantial investments in that than pay for someone to make them sound good and marketable.
All the while they claim how much they want to make it in the industry, and how much they dedicated to their craft (as long as I said it costs $0.00).
Oh well. Peace be with you and best of luck in all your future endeavors.

The Great Communication

This album is dope. Its a recommended buy.

These boys have delivered a solid all around album.

Its a very fresh look on hip hop and the non-sampled soulful sound that they have is very unique to them.

Stand out tracks include "Clap -On", "Where I'm Supposed To Be" and "This Is Blitzkrieg" if not only for the production but for the lyrics as well.
Jon-D's delivery and cadence is near perfect.
Bob-J's bass playing and other contributions to the production on this album deserves an A++.

I give this album 10/10. Buy it.

Ok so I'm back, with more pics and some clips of my whole production and mixing experience.

So the project I was talking about came through and another small one. I was contracted to mix 15 tracks from a producer who shall go nameless and one track from another. I must say that so far its going great. Individual 1 liked the mix I made of one of the tracks (with out a reference track btw) and with a few suggested changes loved my work.

Now for obvious reasons I cannot post before and after samples on here but if I do get the permission to do so I will. Rest assured.

The other track I got is pretty dope for such a young dude.

Hopefully as I get more mixes done, more come in.
Here's some video of a surprise session I did. My boys Bobby and Johny came through and we got into some music as we always do. We can't help it. Its in the blood. . .

For those of you that dont know him let me introduce you to . . . .
Mr. Phatmatik Pro

Now for all you cats who go from one program to the other to sample like from cool edit pro to FL Studio or from Recycle To Reason, whatever to whatever else. I bring to you your VST solution. Izotope Phatmatik Pro 1.52. Now just from looking at it you should be able to tell what it does. In case you don't, lemme explain . . .

Using FL Studio as my host, load up this vst (10 day demo available at http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/phatmatik/) as an instrument. Its plug and play after here. Click the folder icon in the top left of Phatmatik and find your sample (wave format only) and double click it to load. Boom your sample shows up and if you press C on you keyboard the sample will play. completely. (I think its the C down from middle C.)
Now you have three auto chop features. You can chop by beat in 16ths, 32nds or you can auto chop using the auto chop feature and adjusting the sensitivity (its right next to the folder icon. and the other chop buttons are clearly marked).

For shits and giggles click the 16th chop feature. Now your sample is mapped out along your keyboard in nice little parts. Look at the slice markers and they tell you exactly which key they are mapped to. Now whats great about this (in case you haven't already realised) is that you can position the markers anywhere you want, have a chop in the beginning and end of the song and somewhere in the middle without having to make physical chops in the file. All at extremely little cost to CPU. Now you can play the sample like an instrument recording your midi notes in the piano roll and having the corresponding slices playback.

Izotope Phatmatik Pro also has numerous other features. Adjust the sound of the sample or individual slices by messing with modulation, pitch, reverb delay etc.

You can also play the sample in different octaves through the nice little transpose feature. That is also mapped to your keyboard.

Other applications: chop up drum breaks, etc anything you want really.

So stop running back and forth, program to program, try this all in one solution.

You have a dope guitarist in the room John Boy, and your now resident keyboard player "B-Frank", and the track your working on is coming together so beautifully. You have everything up in Pro Tools and your comp and preamp that you just bought a day before both decide in one unilateral descion to quit on you.

Mutiny I say.

Oh well, down for a bit. but back up soon I hope.

I got the leak edition the day before it came out, now just skimming through the record I'm hearing songs I already like and songs I know will grow on me. Got right to the end of the record and I had to stop. I mean like literally stop and just listen to this track. "Forever Begins". I have heard people saying how they felt touched through music and I could never understand what they meant but today I felt it.

I was seriously touched by this song. I mean I literally felt goosebumps, felt a my heart beat, felt something almost like wash over me, nodding my head almost uncontrollably. It almost felt intimate, me in the beat in my headphones. I felt separated from everything almost like it reached down to my soul. I felt like my heart stopped. Just for a minute . . . I was just wrapped up in the music, like I could cry.

It was amazing. I WILL be buying this album tomorrow. Even if this is the only song that I really like off of the album. I don't care. I really feel. . . touched. Its a lingering feeling. . .

Anyway I at least got into some good shit the last few days. Recorded with our on and off artis PRO and B-Frank also swung through and we got to making beats. Pretty dope stuff.

I've been thinking over the last few days bout a conversation me and my roommate had about an idea of mine to start a t-shirt company. I won't get into too much detail but I essentially feel defeated now. I thought I forged better relationships. While I understand that some people like to see some sort of definite defined plan I think that sometimes a relationship you have with someone could make them be confident in something they see that you are passionate about.
I always hope that people will see how motivated I am right now and how much I invest myself into what I do.
So when it seems that people doubt that or don't see it I feel defeated.
May be being self dependant is really the way. My mum calls me cold, but sometime that how you have to be cause when you reach out for help from people it backfires sometimes, and if it does when you really need the help, you just kinda shut off.
You castle your king and go into protection mode. The smart ones also forge ahead and do not let that discourage their aspirations.

Ok so it's Sunday July 8th. (again, just work with me here). Last day in NY. Money all spent. Hot as hell (a cool 90 to 92 outside) and nothing to do. Well umm. . . lets go to the street fair then. Ok. Cool.

Which explains the opening picture. Some cars just rolling down the street decided to use their hydraulics. Little kids rushing for photo opportunities. Don't cha love Manhattan on a Sunday?

Well onto the street fair but first stop, a nice little park off of 7th avenue and 42nd Street. Took some nice pictures here of some chinese people dancing, yes, dancing in the middle of the park. Quite interesting actually and very weird dances but its a different culture so thats to be expected. I mean look at this 500 years in development and the Irish gave us "Riverdance". I can imagine them saying . . .

"You know what Patrick. . . when dancing, I really hate moving my upper body. . but my legs Pat my boy. . . My legs can go on for days". . .

Now out of this whole thing, this dude made me laugh:

Onto the street fair. It was dope. Lot of people buying the most random shit and a couple Elmo's posted up chilling.

In between snatching purses, posting up on corners and entertaining the kids ("Elmo luvs da kidz" a-la Trick daddy not Michael Jackson) Elmo does the robot.

Mad dash to catch the shuttle to Franklin Avenue. Luckily the conductor saw me and let me in. Otherwise I would have just had to stand there and watch the shuttle drive away and wait another 15 mins or so for the next (hey, do I make fun of your small victories? Ok then, so stop it).

The A train is the only thing running this weekend so I hop on and everything is fine. Until I saw that we are passing stops that I have never passed before (where the fuck is Delancey Street. . .??) Jumped out at a familiar sounding stop and decided the only way to really know where I was was to break ground. Surfaced in a very familiar spot so I wasn't off by much, almost exactly where I wanted to be just higher up.

Now I'll tell you, walking sucks, it really does sometimes. Anyway I was trying to find a bunch of sneaker boutiques and managed to find a bout 4 out of the 5 on my list so it was a good day. Got me a pair of Nike SB Blazer's, A t-shirt and a shirt from Triple 5 Soul. A nice case for my Mac at the Mac store and some computer cleaner. So with my feet aching and that gallon-o-grapefruit juice preparing to jump me I made my way home. . .

The Whirlwind Tour. . .

Ok so it's July 6th. (I know its not but just work with me here ok?) . Today was a relative whirlwind of destinations. First, went to 14th street, to Guitar Center, Levis Store and random video stores with porn in the back rooms (guilty pleasure, lol, don't buy, download wink, wink). Onto 57th street to Nike Town, but first, a stop in Central Park.

Lovely place, too big to actually explore fully, but for what I saw, it's pretty dope. Flora and fauna amidst the glass and bricks, refreshing.

Onto Nike Town, (thank god they had bathrooms cause that gallon-o-grapefruit juice just ran up on me like that African guy the other day), nothing new here. It was expected.

I never see anything good in commercial mainstream retail outlets anymore. I don't even know what I'm looking for at times.

Ok so me being crazy, and having nothing better to do with your time always helps, walked. Yes. WALKED from 58th to 42nd along 6th Ave I think and took the train to Downtown Brooklyn.

Stopped in every sneaker store nothing to be found and having a size thirteen in America isn't as good as its cracked up to be, when it happens to be the most common fucking size after 12 (everyone and they uncle is a fucking basketball player apparently). So that nice Nike SB Blazer could have been mine had it not been for my feet being a size to big.

I blame my parents.

So onto my old haunt, upper Fulton Street Brooklyn (Between Franklin and Nostrand) and would you believe it. Slim to none picking here to. As much as I thought about it. . . I just couldn't do the brown and Pink Easter Dunks with the polka dot soles. maybe on the next run. . .

So home I walk, empty handed and a little defeated but with pics for you to look at. . .

They were jamming too, just minus the crowd.

Harlem!!!

Went up to Harlem today. Took the A train all the way up to 125th street. Took a detour on 14th street first though. Checked out Guitar Center and the Levi's store. Then onto HARLEM!! A few cool stores. One sneaker boutique Atmos. They had a nice selection but nothing I liked enough to cake up for.

Back down to SoHo to the Stussy store, then to the Bape Store. Love these store designs. Got me a Stussy tee in the midst of it all.

Back to Broadway. Almost bought another jeans but thanks to the rain, I got my ass home with the quickness.

I love these little guys in the 14th Street Station.

African Festival!!! Which amounted to nothing more that various Africans hawking goods of their relative homes. It was cool though. It was an African art collectors wet dream. And if your an earthy type chick that loves accessories, you would have been in your relative heaven.

I almost got run up on by a very disgruntled African art dealer for taking the adjacent pic. I couldn't understand what the hell he was saying and being that I'm a strapping fellow (with some added help from Bally's) it amounted to nothing. Or maybe it was the fumes of weed coming from the next stall that calmed the situation (gotta love the rastas, JAHHHH Rastafari). Who knows?

Oh and I saw some very cool and very old building decorations. I don't know how old these date back to but I'm looking it up.

The search for the elusive pair of dope kicks is still on. Saw nothing that sparked that "gotta have it" part of my brain yet. The Soho was the destination today.

I love this area.

Its like New York had a decree made that said "All starving artists, weirdo's and street artists will henceforth assemble here" or something like that. Back streets covered in posters and spray paint. Stores nobody knew existed but with prices that can seriously hurt your pocket (extreme bodily harm, no flesh wounds here).

Love this place.

The world really is a small place. Ms. S. Bevans, a friend from school is out here in New York too and off all people I see coming out of a store today on Broadway, its her. I should have taken a pic.

Ok. . . Well this blog starts off with a break from school, and a trip to NY. Fun Fun Fun . . .

Now for the people who don't know me, I'm not your run of the mill shopper. I like weird shit. Weird kicks, colorways, limited editions, rare shit.

I'm the "don't match my kicks with anything" sorta guy, so I seek out all the little boutiques that sell clothes and kicks for the people like me.

Today took me to The Brooklyn Circus. A nice little store tucked away a little way from downtown Fulton Street Mall. Very small quaint store that sells Nudie Jeans, some Nike's and their own particular brand of T-shirts. Check them out if your in this part of town.

Other than this, I played it low, made my way through downtown Brooklyn and picked me up some Levi's 505's and a Premium Dunk I been looking for for a while.
